competently.ai (“the Service”) is operated by Competently Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17330828). By using the Service you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

The service

Competently Ltd provides AI-assisted study materials for CII financial services examinations. It is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). “CII” and exam unit names such as R06 are used solely to describe the examinations the Service helps you prepare for.

The guided courses and the content of the calculators and sandboxes are being reviewed by a subject expert and may change as a result.

Free trial

New accounts may start with a 7-day free trial. No payment details are required to begin the trial and no charge is made during it. During the trial you can try every exam and every course, limited to 10 practice questions and 5 course lessons per exam; mock exams are not included. The trial does not convert into a paid subscription on its own: unless you add a payment method before the trial ends, access simply stops when the seven days are up and you are never charged. To continue, choose one of the products below. One free trial is available per account.

Subscription

The subscription gives access to a guided course for each of R01 to R06 (a CF6 course is in development), the calculators and sandboxes, and full practice for every exam we offer (R01 to R06 and CF6, and ER1 when released). It is billed through Stripe at £24 per month, £59 every 3 months or £199 per year, depending on the billing period you choose. You may cancel at any time from your Account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Apart from your statutory rights described under “Your right to cancel” below, part periods are not refunded. Subscribers to our earlier Diploma plan keep their existing price and receive everything included in the subscription for as long as it continues.

Single exam (one-off purchase)

Buying a single exam gives access to the question bank and marking for one exam, with timed mock exams for the multiple-choice exams (R01 to R05 and CF6) or AI-marked case studies for R06, for 12 months from the date of purchase, for a single payment of £20 per exam (£45 for R06, which includes AI marking of written answers and case studies). It does not include guided courses or the calculators and sandboxes. It does not renew and you are not charged again. Buying the same exam again while access is still active adds 12 months to the current end date.

Your right to cancel

When you buy digital content online as a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 normally give you 14 days from the day you buy to cancel and get a full refund. The subscription and single-exam purchases give you access straight away, so before you pay we ask you to tick a box confirming that you want access to start immediately and that you understand you lose this 14-day right once it does. We cannot take a payment without that confirmation, and we keep a record of it with your purchase.

The free trial exists so you can evaluate the Service before any payment is taken. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if digital content is faulty or not as described are not affected, and nothing in these terms affects any other statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Question banks

Multiple-choice practice questions (R01 to R05 and CF6) come from our question banks. Each question is written with the help of AI and checked against our reference material before it is added. We serve questions you have not seen before first, in a varied order. Once you have seen every question in a topic, earlier questions come round again, starting with those you saw longest ago. We add questions over time, but we do not promise a minimum number of questions for any topic.

Fair use

AI-generated written questions and case studies, and AI marking of written answers, are unlimited for normal study, subject to a fair-use daily limit that protects the Service from automated or excessive use. The limit is currently 300 new AI questions and markings per day with a subscription or a single exam and 60 per day during the free trial. Questions served from our question banks, including all multiple-choice questions, do not count towards it. If you reach the limit, new AI generation and marking pause until midnight UK time; everything else, including your progress and the question banks, stays available. We may change these limits to keep the Service fair and reliable for everyone.

Acceptable use

• Use the Service for personal study only.
• Do not attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or resell any part of the Service.
• Do not share account credentials with others.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
