Competently Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17330828), operates competently.ai. This page explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

Data we collect

• Account data - name and email address collected at sign-up via Clerk.
• Usage data - questions attempted, answers submitted, flashcard sessions, and progress statistics.
• Payment data - subscription billing handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store card details. We record your plan, and the start and end dates of any free trial, so we can give you the right access.
• AI interactions - your written answers are sent to the Anthropic API for marking and are not used to train AI models.

How we use it

• To provide and improve the exam preparation service.
• To process subscription payments.
• To track your progress across sessions.

Third-party services & where data lives

We use Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI marking), and Vercel (hosting). Each processes data on our behalf under its own privacy policy. Our application database is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). Authentication data is processed by Clerk in the United States, and payments by Stripe, in each case under standard contractual safeguards for international transfers.

Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies. Our authentication provider, Clerk, sets a session cookie so you stay signed in as you move between pages. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hello@competently.ai. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems and cancels any active subscription.
